TROOP 80 REACHES MILESTONE -- BE A PART OF HISTORY
Troop 80 celebrates its Fifty Year Reunion on September 2 and 3. What an opportunity to take part in something special, whether you were around for the early years of the troop, took part in the 25th Reunion, or are active in the troop right now! Fifty years of summer camps. . . 50 years of campouts every month but December. Think of how many boys have been through the troop in 50 years. . . How many men have helped out . . . How many campfires have been built . . . How many songs and stories around those campfires . . . How many friendships grew. . . How many miles have been hiked . . . How many Christmas trees have been sold . . . How many merit badges have been earned . . . How many ranks have been reached . . . How many families have been touched! And YOU have been a part of this amazing history!

Dinner prices are $16 per person by August 27 or $20 per person after August 27. You may register by regular mail by returning the registration form you received by mail earlier. You can also register on the Troop 80 website.

WILDERNESS 2005 at Midnight Canyon
It Rained Again! The Troop started wilderness camp under a fire ban (again) . However, after 5 straight days of rain, the fire ban was lifted and Gregg Wynne grilled steaks for Thursday night and we had real a campfire Thursday and Friday nights ( instead of 2 Coleman lanterns).
Scout of the Week was Casey Fithen. Jonathan Standish was a close second in the voting. Best archer was Reno Moats. A.J. Puget was best instinct shooter, and Chris Johnson was best targets hooter. Brandon Sena was best wood carver. Best leatherwork was done by Austin Fielding. Most Improved Archer was Ben Standish. Outstanding Patrol was the Cherokee Patrol. Winner of Paul Bunyan Day was the Mohawk Patrol. Softball champs were Purple Nurples: Greg Hedum, Jim White, Doug Walker, Evan Vern, Jake Greenwade, Colton Smith, Chris Johnson, Josh Johnson, A.J. Pagitt, Preston McClendon, and Brad Buckner.
Sorry about that , Spence. Where was Louie this year? Bean Pot award went to Paul Kiefer. Bone Award for favorite first year adult went to Danny Moats. The Smiley family, the Thompson brothers and Blaine Thompson came up for the steak dinner. Some tall guy came up early to hit long balls and preach. Must be a basketball player.
Scott Cut---rrrrright got the best injury of the week award. Matthew Moran had the best mouse bite story.
In another bit of history being made this summer, EW made it up the hill one more time carrying the circus tent .JS needs a little workout to get it up the hill.

NEW EAGLES:
Kenny Reed, who moved to South Dakota a few years back, has come back to finish his Eagle with Troop 80. Congratulations to Kenny and a "bravo" to his family for the effort to get him here for his final work and Board of Review. Brent Klein survived the Jedi Master and is Troop 80’s newest Eagle. Congratulations to Brent and his long-suffering family.

A group of 26 Scouts and 10 men had a great time in the mountains of New Mexico in June. The campsite was awesome, especially since no tents had to be pitched. Scouts achieved 10rank advancements and at least 56 merit badges were finished in camp. Many partials on merit badges need only one requirement to finish. Camp offered many Eagle required badges, which could be finished, or almost finished in camp. Plans are underway to return next summer.
2005 HOOPS CHAMPS NAMED
Cherokee Patrol storms to Basketball Championship, overcoming the Mohawk Patrol in the finals. Way to go guys.
Able Wilson (Eagle 2001) has been accepted at the Air Force Academy and will begin classes later in the summer. Congratulations to Able, who has served in Iraq and South Korea.
OUR CONDOLENCES
Melody Abrahamson, daughter of Ted Abrahamson, long time Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 80, and Janet Abrahamson, recently passed away. Melody’s brothers, George(1966) and Steve (1982) , were both Eagle Scouts in Troop 80. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Abrahamson family.
